Tattoo Parlor

This would be my first preference in Second Life. Go get inked really quick so ic an walka roudn and have a piece of unique quality on my body! I love tattoos and in second lfie, this is a virtual tattoe parlor. Only difference is it hurts a Heck of a lot less!

Get your Tickets to the show!

Its a concert hall, but better known as the "Pop Orck Art Stage" where private artists can perfrom at given tiems. At this time there was no body performing but if you see the colorful ball to my left, touching it will give one options on how to dance during the live concert. Another great place to meet people and you can join a mailing group that informs memebers when concerts are available. The little jazz cat to my left is accepting tips but im broke, sorry kitty!

We can party all night!

I am on a cruise ship. PARTY AT THE DISCO! Well i cant quite get my dance moves in like i would in the real world but ic an still boogie-oogie-oogie! Great way to meet people and socialize is to go to the clubs in second life.

The Scenery

Ever like to just take a walk around the town and explore the scenery? Well here i am on a vantage point in a beautiful village somewhere in eastern europe! The skys clear, the suns out, the trees are shimmering in the light. Ahh what a day!

Your an artist, but whats your trademark!

In a studio that helps users produce graphics, specifically to help market their music on Second Life. This workshop is called Kromatic, and can be found in the Netherlands virtual world section. It is useful for any struggling musicians that want to show their talent in Second Life but only need a slogan or trademark!

The Vending Machines

Here, we have a set of choices. In real life, there are already thousands of choices and options when it comes to consumerism, but do we really need more? Well in Second Life, as the pictures details, you can choose from a choice of an assortment of beverages and snacks Thats with the payment of linden dollars of coarse! Nothings free in the virtual world either!

Group Hendrix Q & A

1. In World vs. Real World: How is the virtual society different than our real world society?

Virtual society is different because there is no face to face interaction, so basically no consequences or emotions can really be observed. If someone is shy or quiet in real life, it doesn't necessarily come across that way in Second Life unless the user wants it that way. Way more inhibitions can be acted out in Second Life.

2. How was your group meeting in world different, better or worse than the meeting in Blackboard Vista's chat groups that your instructors set up for this course?

Blackboard Vista was easier to communicate with each other for sure. Second Life has so many more visual things going on and our group members weren't as used to dealing with what it had to offer. We've all used regular chat rooms online so we knew how to use them properly to communicate in Vista.

3. How can virtual worlds like Second Life enhance the teaching and learning experiences for students?

You can reach many more students online in these worlds than in a classroom. The only difficulty would be users getting used to so many options and sequences to understand. Second Life type technology will definitely impact the way people learn in the future.

4. What are the implications for the arts and society?

Arts and Society are going to be influenced down the road by Second Life because the creation of a reliable, working virtual world can increase the viewership and communication between people so much easier and faster than in any other way. Arts through computer design and graphics are getting better every day and considered a very viable medium in art expression. Second Life allows society to view these graphic artists' work and experience something the real world has never seen before, Virtual life.

Blues and Booze

Toby's Juke Joint Blues club is where this picture was taken. This place is a bar and club where live music is played. The bar was empty when i arrived, but started to pick up volume after a few minutes.

Hang Gliding Fun

The Hang glider was found in a place called Black Sand Beach. I had to climb a bunch of ropes to get there, so I think its kind of a secret. Either way, it's cool to float around and see the world from such a high vantage point.

From way downtown, BANG

This is Ballers City where there all kind of Basketball related activities. You can actually pick up a basketball and shoot it. If you make the shot, it congratulates you for a job well done. Unfortunately you can't slam dunk!

Flying High

Sharks Cove Amusement Park is where I took this picture while flying a helicopter. On the grand pier you will find many shops and waterslides, much like any other amusement park.

Venice Beach

Here, my avatar is standing in front of a few weight sets in Venice Beach, California. Muscle beach plays a large part in this area, and I believe second life shows that very well. There are many similiarities between the second life and human venice beach.

Windsurf's up, bro

This is a world called Artilleri which is set in a seashore atmosphere. Surfboards and old classic cars are everywhere. You even had the option to windsurf around in the water to explore a little bit.

Retrology

Retrology is a place where people seem to have themed stores where retro fashions are sold. There are hot rods and pictures of Marylin Monroe everywhere so it involves some vibes from the past. Also seems pretty quiet compared to other worlds.

Pink Floyd Country

This is a picture of my avatar stading in front of a Pink Floyd album cover in Pink Floyd Country. If you love Pink Floyd, you would love this place. Everything around is Pink Floyd oriented. It was pretty neat to see.

Another pixel in "The Wall"

This world is themed after Pink Floyd and music in general. There are Pink Floyd albums covering the walls and an elegant dancefloor in the center of the level. It seemed pretty empty...not many avatars. There were lots of shops however so it is probably busy at some point in the day.

A Little Like Home

This is a picture of my avatar standing in front of a supermarket and deli in Sistiana. The cab parked out front reminds me of Center City Philadelphia. The town was very odd. There was a lot of spraipaint on all the buildings in some areas, and then flowers in windows in others.
